We opened the battery pack, modules, and removed a cell. We will analyze its performance, design and chemistry. Meanwhile:
🔋 Cylindrical format, 21700: as expected
🚛 Supplier: model 50G from Samsung SDI (Lucid has also signed a partnership with LG Chem)
🧯 “Fire hazard” marking: sure, and fire anti-propagation could be a story of its own
🛠 “Never install, carry and handle” marking: no problem, we only analyze, tear down, and cost cells
💨”Not for vape” marking: really ?
Indeed, Samsung supplies 21700 cells (30T and 40T models for instance) for vaping use to smokers around the world. They have different properties compared to 50G, for sure. Still, that’s what you call, business diversification and potential economies of scale.
